Kelly Canyon Huts

Kelly Canyon – Caribou Targhee National Forest Ski Trails

The US Forest Service and volunteers from the IFSC groom and maintain free cross-country skiing/snow shoeing trails on public lands in the Kelly Canyon area.  The trails are located above the Kelly Canyon Ski Resort and are accessed from Forest Road 218 beyond the resort boundary. Weekly grooming (classic and skate) occurs on several trails.  There are warming huts in the area at Morgan Summit and Kelly Mountain, the Kelly Mountain can be booked online for overnight stays. There is a designated parking area below the Kelly Canyon Ski Resort parking lot, complements of Kelly Canyon Ski Resort. It is free for day and over-night use.  Please note there are NO dogs allowed on these groomed Forest Service trails. 

Morgan Summit Hut

The Morgan Summit is a day use only warming hut located at the top of Morgan Summit reached by turning left at the Y-parking lot.  The hut has chairs and a table to make lunch more comfortable.  There is also a wood stove with firewood provided as well as a snow melt pan to make water.

Kelly Mountain Hut

The Kelly Mountain Warming Hut is a large wall tent  open as a warming hut for skiers during the day from 10am to 4pm FREE to the general public.  For daily warming hut use there are chairs and a wood stove with firewood provided.  It is also available for rental for an overnight stay from 4pm to 10am.  The tent is located out the Forest Service 881 road that starts behind the outhouse in the Y-Junction parking lot.
