Teton Canyon Yurt Overnight Backcountry Trip (IFSC members only)

Description: Teton Canyon Yurt is located in the summer use campground in Teton Canyon. The yurt is accessed via a four-mile, mostly flat, groomed cross-country track that is ideal for cross-country skiing, skate skiing, and snowshoeing. Guided or unguided backcountry skiing available skiers equipped with avalanche safety gear along with the skills and training to safely.
Step out your door and onto a freshly groomed cross-country ski track! The yurt is located at 6500′ and is less than one mile from the Jedediah Smith Wilderness boundary adjacent to Grand Teton National Park. This yurt sits at a lower elevation than our other yurts so will require more hiking time to access powder skiing.
The yurt sleeps 4-6 people. Two bunk beds sleep doubles on bottom bunk and singles on the top. Cots sleep an additional two people. There is a pellet stove for heat, lights, and a two-burner propane stove for cooking. Snow is melted for water. An outhouse is nearby. Household basics such as toilet paper, paper towels, and fuel for cooking, lighting, and heating are provided. Kitchenware including cooking and eating utensils are also provided. Members that go on this trip will provide all food nd do all the cooking.
Overnight renters need to provide their own sleeping bags, food, drink, first aid and emergency supplies, and maps. All participants will meet in Driggs, ID, before trip departure to review yurt operations and sign an Acknowledgement of Risk waiver. Location for meeting will be given.
